Special Olympic Games

From 4th to 7th October 2018 the 11th Edition of the Special Olympic Games was celebrated in two venues – la Seu d’Urgell and Andorra la Vella. It is one of the most important sporting occasions for intellectually handicapped people in the country.
The Games joined together 1,750 participants, of which 46 sportspeople and 9 trainers were from Catalònia Fundació Creactiva!!!
The participants competed in 14 sporting disciplines. At La Seu d’Urgell the following sports were disputed: basketball, indoor hockey, petanca, cycling, tennis and the Young Athletes programme with boys and girls of between 2 and 7 years of age. In Andorra la Vella: swimming, gymnastics, athletics, table tennis, indoor football, handball, badminton and judo.
We were able to celebrate 11 golds, 12 silvers and 13 bronzes.
Other featured activities were the Athletes´ Village in each base, the carrying of the torch all across Catalonia and Andorra la Vella, the Healthy Athletes Health programme or the opening and closing ceremonies.
