THE FIRST STEPS
La Fundació Privada pro Persones amb Discapacitat Intel.lectual Catalònia was created on 3rd of May 1988 but its history had already begun in 1976 with the start of La Institució Montserrat Montero, a residence dedicated to the care of people with mental retardation with a registered capacity of 237 users.
Later, in 1989, La Casona home was inaugurated, for 26 users with a high level of learning and personal autonomy. In 1990, the foundation took responsibility for the Aspasur Occupational Centre, a day-care centre with an occupational therapy service. In 1994 Joan Bofill Centre with a registered capacity for 34 users with profound ID and behavioural disorders was inaugurated.
2004 – 2018
In 2004, la Fundació Catalònia board of trustees determines the application of a Viability Plan owing to the financial economic situation of the entity and the necessity for a new care model. As fruit of this plan, the entity´s new business plan emerges.
In 2009, Barcelona provincial council grants the land of Flor de Maig to Catalònia. From here on, it grows in training, research, management and the construction of a creative and innovative care model which has made Catalònia a sustainable pioneer in the sector. .

EVOLUTION IS THE OBJECTIVE
To be able to advance towards a more inclusive society, we promote a transformation focused on people: we don´t speak about THE DISABLED but THE ABLE.
We promote the research of new areas, projects and work spaces, without forgetting that we have to be sustainable to guarantee viability and “endure over time”.
RESEARCH FOR INNOVATION
A genetic diagnostic project of our users due to the lack of clarity in their etiological diagnosis. In the first phase, we have carried out 181 diagnoses. It´s a continuous project which allows us to not only diagnose genetically but also to contribute our grain of sand to innovation and consciousness of the biological importance with the objective of improving the quality of life of these people. We work with SYNLAB and their genetic advisory unit on the interpretation and study of cases, follow up and conclusions.
Intestinal microbiota and multifactorial genetics study project of our users with the objective of improving their quality of life through biological neuro-biochemical balancing and improving behavioural disorders.
STUDIES WITH THE UAB (AUTONOMOUS UNIVERSITY OF BARCELONA)
This collaboration has the objective of framing, coordinating and executing the transference of knowledge in research, development and evaluation, of scientific and technological issues of interest within the area of disability. Through these studies and agreements with different entities, we intend to continue evolving and contributing improvements in the sector which will have a direct impact on society.
At Catalònia Fundació Creactiva we incite a journey towards full inclusion where we are all everybody. We don´t wait for things to happen, but we make things happen, we´re active and we bring added value to what we do.
We have to continue to be linked to solidarity, productivity, sustainability and above all social responsibility.
The evolution of our model is something we can ensure thanks to the work we have done until now. There are many roads to follow, there is a lot to do and to build and because of that something is stirring at Catalònia Fundació Creactiva.
We are restless! We want to keep moving.
